PoT: Death Note (2003 - 2006)

Death Note could probably be considered a classic in its own right. It’s been adapted multiple times and has remained at least partially relevant in the cultural zeitgeist. It’s time to grab a bag of BBQ flavoured potato chips and get your notebooks ready.

The decision itself to record on Death Note had started as a bit of a joke, but it had quickly gained traction. Especially after ‘Death Note - The Musical’ had managed to worm its way back into Mischief’s consciousness. In the end, it was fun to re-experience the series after so many years. The focus was split, with Sherigan focusing on the anime, while Mischief finally finished the manga (after ten years of neglect).

Overall, we’ve ended up reminiscing about the past, the show, and our shifting perception and appreciation of certain characters. A subjective look on the good and the bad of the show - with a few interjections from Mischief about the Musical and how it changed certain aspects of the series to elevate others. The video that started it all was created by IzzyIzTrash: "Why Death Note the Musical is an Unexpected Masterpiece". We thank you for bringing the musical to Mischief’s attention. The analysis itself is also fascinating, with its clear and well explained music analysis.

The concept album of musical by Frank Wildhorn can be found on Youtube.

Lastly, what if you could experience Death Note without having access to any of the inner monologues? Things are suddenly a lot more awkward, as shown here:

While we've not mentioned it during the episode. We've already established the topic of our next episode. So for those who are interested in reading up as well - we're staying in the mindset of a 'criminal mastermind' - We're reading up on Arsène Lupin, the gentlemen thief, himself.
We'll be talking about the stories covered in the two books: "Arsène Lupin, the gentlemen thief" and "Arsène Lupin vs. Herlock Sholmes".
